What is a unit?
A unit is a period of time children engage in a series of educational activities centered around a specific theme or topic. These units are designed to facilitate the development of foundational skills and knowledge in a variety of subjects, including literacy, numeracy, science, social studies, and art. Each unit integrates multiple subject areas and learning domains into a cohesive and engaging learning experience. Unit times can vary based on your child’s maturity and interest in a topic. I have found two weeks to be a good standard amount of time. The beauty of homeschooling is the ability to be flexible and follow your child’s lead. You can move at a pace that feels comfortable for you and your child. Each unit has 6 lessons. View sample lesson plan here.
How much prep work is required?
The prep work for each lesson will vary but is typically very minimal. Most will just require gathering materials for the lesson and having them ready. I have intentionally minimized printing and worksheets because it is very time consuming and costly when printing new materials for each unit. I have also found it to be unnecessary and prefer to put children in the creator’s seat.
What age is this curriculum geared toward?
This curriculum was created with ages 3–6-year-olds in mind. It can be easily differentiated for these ages, and even older. My daughter turns 7 this summer and she is engaged in each lesson and activity. I love finding and creating extension activities for her to do to expand on the things we are learning in each unit.
Will my subscription auto renew each month?
Yes, your subscription will auto renew each following month on the day you initially subscribed. If you signed up for the yearly subscription, it will auto renew the next year on the same day you initially subscribed.
How long is each lesson?
Lesson time will vary on the lesson itself, as well your particular situation and child. Most lessons will take 30-45 minutes to complete. Lessons have been designed with small children in mind. They will be hands-on, explorative, incorporate movement, and creativity.
When will I gain access to the curriculum in the members area?
On the 1st of each month, new curriculum will be available to view in the members area. On the 25th of each month, a list of materials needed for the upcoming month will be emailed to you, so you are able to get the supplies in time before the new month begins.
What happens if I sign up in the middle of the month, will I still have access to lesson plans when a new month starts?
Right now, I am working on a way to make months you have purchased available to you at any time. In the meantime, I will provide a downloadable copy of each month’s units and lesson plans so you can save them to your computer while I work this out.
Can I purchase units without subscribing?
Yes, after each month, units will become available to purchase.
